STEM Science Fair
We were proud to host a Science Fair, the first of our collaborative SENsational STEM events.
We welcomed local schools Co-op Academy Bebington, Hilbre High, Oldershaw High and Claremount Specialist Sports College, joined by a group of our own pupils.
The aim was to provide pupils with SEND a totally accessible and interactive STEM experience that will inspire, engage and promote curiosity in a safe, supportive environment with a focus on:
-
Problem Solving
-
Research
-
Critical Reflection
-
Communication
-
Technical Skills
-
Digital Literacy
The carousel of sessions included Sports Science and Forensics, and hands-on activities mug printing, hovercrafts and the group favourite, water rockets! The morning felt a real success all round and the children left with a huge sense of achievement. We look forward to developing the working partnerships.
Pupils spoke to us after the event and said:
“It was really good and the teachers were really nice”
“I think nothing can make this science fair better, this was amazing”
“An awesome day - loved it. When can we come back?”
We then spoke to Mrs Wilkinson, STEM Lead & Deputy Head, about the aims of the Science Fair:
“The aim was to build links with our local schools, give something back to our community, promote Science and STEM for pupils with SEND who often don't get the same access as their mainstream counterparts...and have some fun.....I think we achieved all of the above!”
