Extended Day Provision

The Extended Day Provision at West Kirby School and College provides pupils with the opportunity to build on the social communication, interaction and life skills they are developing in school in a fun, enriching, relaxed and nurturing environment.

Alongside this, it will ensure the promotion of equality, with a person-centred approach and neuro-affirming practice.

Aim

Our Extended Day Provision:

  • Enables opportunities for supported social interactions with peers and the further development of communication and interaction skills.

  • Offers a range of creative and engaging activities to support the development of new and existing skills and areas of interest.

  • Helps to build confidence, self-esteem, positive mental health and emotional well-being and creativity.

  • Promotes equality, a person-centred approach and neuro-affirming practice.

Where is it based?

Our Extended Day provision is based in The Retreat, a multi-functional, low-arousal, well-resourced suite of rooms in school, with engaging activities planned to support the social and personal development of pupils.

What can pupils do?

A variety of activities are planned taking account of needs and interests of the pupils; including craft, cooking & outdoor experiences. Where possible, pupils will have a say in the activities available to ensure a person-centred, neuro-affirming approach is in place.

All activities are fully accessible to all pupils attending the Extended Day Provision and will be risk assessed and appropriate to the age and ability of pupils.

What are the expectations?

The school values, to be kind, respectful, nurturing, proactive, aspirational and enterprising continue through the Extended Day Provision and support all pupils to thrive and achieve their potential. Pupil’s behaviour needs to enable the aims and objectives of the provision being achieved for all those attending.

When will it run?

The provision runs from 3.30 pm (the end of the school day) until 6.30 pm Monday – Thursday and a light snack & small meal will be provided. Specific dietary requirements can be accommodated.

How do I book?

Due to the small group numbers and resource planning, places need to be booked in advance through our online booking system. Sessions will be invoiced on a monthly basis.

Session costs are dependent on the individual support required. Please use the form below to express interest in accessing the Extended Day Provision. Our team will respond to you to confirm session costings for your child.

Places can be funded directly by the Direct Payments or Childcare Vouchers or Local Authority (where agreed) on arrangement. Further information and costings are available from the Extended Day team.
