Autism Accreditation, Beacon Status

West Kirby School and College has been awarded ‘Beacon Status’ by the National Autistic Society. We are now one of only seven schools nationally to achieve this prestigious recognition.

Accreditors note that “what is achieved in terms of quality of life outcomes for autistic young people is impressive“.

Mr Hicks, Headteacher, commented, “Securing Beacon Status reaffirms our ongoing commitment to ensuring that West Kirby School & College remains a place where all our students can reach their full potential. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved, especially our dedicated staff, whose passion and expertise continue to shape and change the lives of our students”.

The report highlighted:

  • The establishment of The School Bakery is a fabulous achievement that has positively impacted young people’s lives.

  • Your application is well-constructed, providing clear evidence of a positive learning environment for autistic young people.

  • The detailed data on the impact of training for families and professionals is impressive.

Miss Spence, Autism Accreditation Lead, spoke to us about the award success, “I am so proud that we are being recognised as one of only seven other providers in the UK to receive Beacon Status! This is a considerable achievement for us”.

We are excited to continue our journey of supporting and championing our Autistic learners. Especially now, as a shining beacon of excellence in Autism education.
